Hello there, and welcome back to this website that just recently started being active. Thank you for reading this, even if you are here only to get the information. So, let’s get down to business. How To make your PC start faster. You are here because you’re looking for a way to fix your PC’s slowness. And yes, it’s a good thing that you want to make it faster for further use in the future. But do you know how to do that? No? Then you are in the right place.
But first things first, when it first starts up, your PC has some things to do, start some services, fill in some registries, etc. etc. Well, some of those actions can be post-phoned until it fully started. And that’s exactly what we are going to do today.
What makes it slow down?
Well, when you are trying to fix a problem you first need to find what caused it in the first place. And one of the things that usually make a PC slower are the start-up programs. If you are a gamer, then you surely have Steam installed, right? Well, what if I told you that every time you start your PC, it starts steam too, at first nothing seems wrong, but do you know how much that impacts your start-up time?
How do we deactivate start-up programs?
Ok, so disabling start-up programs is the first thing we are going to do. And we are going to take Steam as an example. What we are going to do applies to other programs too. First open Task Manager, you can either search ”task manager” in the search bar or press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open it.

Next, if you don’t have task bar in the detailed mode, then you should have a button ”More details” which you should press. After you pressed it, you should be able to see more programs in that list.

Next you need to go at the top and click on the ”Start-up” tab. It should get you to a list with programs that start at the same time with Windows, which slows it down considerably depending on the program.

Next you should go to each program that is enabled and disable it. Just right click on it and hit ”Disable” and you should be done. You might want to keep enabled programs that you really need tough. For example I keep GreenPrint enabled because it needs to start with windows for me to be able to use it.
You disabled all useless programs? Great, you’re one step closer to make your PC start faster.
Deactivating all non-Microsoft services
Despite deactivating all those programs at start-up Windows still has a lot of work to do, like starting services. And while most of them are necessary some are not. And to make our PC start faster we are going to deactivate those too.
Now, go to the windows search bar and type: ”msconfig” and hit enter. It should get you this:

Next you need to go to the services tab. And there you will see a whole list of services that windows starts when it boots up. Now, there’s a small check box in the down left corner: ”Hide all Microsoft services” check it.

OK, now you should be left with all the unnecessary services that need to be deactivated, so obviously, hit ”disable all” and you are done. A quick restart should do the trick. Now you did almost everything to make your PC start faster. If you really want to pay some money for a huge change, consider buying an SSD, even if your PC or laptop is in a bad shape, the SSD will make it at least twice as fast.
If you still are here then thank you for having the patience to read all that. Now you learned how to make your PC start faster, a piece of information that surely will help you out in the future. And not only you, it will help other people too, since why not share them with someone you know that will benefit from them?
